I'm really surprised to hear your dealer said that. I've always been told the most important oil change you'll ever do to your new equipment is the first one. All those parts are new and this is when any imperfections will ground themselves down. Thats why that earlier post said he found those shavings in his oil.<br>I would change the oil per the owners manual, if not even a little sooner. That dealer, maybe he's a good one, but he definitely gave you some bad advice there.<br>Ray

You mind not like what I have to say. I had a JD318 with a 54

1.) I found the blade for plowing absolutely inadequate.Even with chains and wheel weights. The snow gets too heavy and pushes the tractor instead of the tractor pushing the snow.
2.)That mower is a finish mower. It will not work too well in a field of weeds. Maybe if you get it under control after a few mowings and then stay on top of it you will be ok. It will have a tendancy to bog down if the grass/weeds are too much.
3.) I never had much luck leveling dirt for the same reason as number #1. Not enought tractor for the job.
I live on 3 acres. You must have some land there if you got 1200' of drive to plow.I ended up buying a JD425 for my mowing needs and a JD755 compact tractor for my tractor needs.In my opinion , a compact tractor is what you will need to do atleast jobs #1 and #3
You will just be disappointed with the equipments performance and you will beat the heck out of your equipment if you try to do those jobs with that lawn tractor.

I also disagree with your first respondent. At least in this case. I've certainly heard many people on this board wish they had bought a larger tractor, and they were probably correct, but you've only got three acres If you move and end up with 20 or 30 acres you WILL want a larger machine.<br>I have 3 acres and bought a '96 JD755 with about 400 hours on it.It was and is in almost perfect condition. Mine came with a loader, 4 wd,ps, 3 point hitch, ballast box, and turf tires. Paid about 12,000.00 It's big enough for anything I'll need to do on three acres. I agree with Paul on all the other advantages.<br>I would suggest, if looking at compacts in this range, and you intend to use a loader, to get the 4 wd. The 2wd with loaders, in my opinion are almost useless.4wd will give you a lot more ooomph when you need it! Also don't know if you've given it much thought, but the 755 I purchased came with hydrostatic trans. This means no shifting gears. One pedal for forward, one for reverse. There are certainly people on this board that like them and those that don't. And both sides have some valid points. For my 2 cents worth, I wasn't looking for a hydrostatic trans, but this tractor was so nice and cared for I decided to buy it. I'm really glad I did. I think that's a good price for that tractor & loader. I recently bought a '96 755, 4wd, with a loader, no mower deck, & 400 hours, that is extra clean, for $12,400.00. You're getting more tractor, one year newer, & a few more hours, for $1.100.00 more. Obviously what part of the country you're in can be a factor as to what it's worth. I'm located in the midwest. Bought my tractor from around the Iindianapolis area. You didn't mention it, but personally I would hope it has the 4wd.I think you would prefer it, especially for loader work. If it is only 2wd, that might partially explain the good price. Lastly, everyone's different, but I've been real happy with the hydrostatic trans.

I'm going to look at a 96 jd755,4wd, power steeering, turf tires, with a loader & mower, and about 400 hours. Dealer is asking $12,500.00 Says it's cherry. Does this price seem fair? Also, any opinions regarding hydrostatic trans for loader work?<br>Thanks,<br>Ray C.

I'm looking at an '86 JD 650 with 1600 hours. It's in good condition, is 4wd, and comes with a 5' mower deck and dozer blade. They are asking 7,900.00. My problem is I'm looking for a 650 with a loader not these other attachments. Seller is willing to sell tractor only, price not yet negotiated. What would be fair? Also, it looks like I'd be stuck buying a new loader as used ones seem non existant. Any ideas here? This tractor does have the hydraulics but no power steering or counterbalance weights. Any input would be appreciated.
